The story of our trendy little floral studio, Magnolia Flowers, starts way back sometime before 1867 with the opening of a furniture store here at 66 King Street East run by the Edwards Family. Sold to the Wright Family in 1944 and then to the Tompkins Family in 1950. It continued to provide locals with gorgeous pieces of timeless home decor with its last known owner to be Campbell’s Furniture. Modern updates were made and the location has been home to a variety of businesses including a Berry’s Pet food for over 20 years. The last 10 years have seen the location become home to several children’s groups such as the Boys and Girls club and home to Vaga Art Gallery for a couple of years.
In the fall of 2017, we took over the lease of this old girl and began to tear back some of her previous 80’s modernizations. Today we pay tribute to her magnificent history having removed the fluorescent lighting and the drop ceiling and exposed the amazing transom windows and bead board ceiling. We adorned her with the salvaged wood beams from an old farmhouse in Mallorytown, circa 1870 and hand forged brackets that we had in our first floral shop location. We continued her rebirth by building a custom floral cooler of architectural salvaged windows and doors.
We see many years of changes for this beauty and hope that you enjoy watching her transform with us. Loving old things has helped us to make our floral shop the destination it is today. You can be sure that a trip to wander our store is one you will never forget and will be sure to pass on to friends.
