Pilea Peperomioides

The Pilea or Chinese Money Plant has existed in cultivation around the world since its introduction to the Europe in the 1940s. From there it traveled between gardeners via cuttings and has, for the most part, avoided commercial propagation. Now this little Pilea is in high demand as an indoor plant. Its striking appearance and ease of care make it very appealing to those looking to green their home.

Care

Easy to grow. This species has semi-succulent stems and so should be watered accordingly. Although they don’t mind being kept moist, they will rot if kept dark and damp (i.e. indoors in insufficient light). Choose a bright indoor position such as a windowsill. Alternatively, grow in a sheltered position outdoors. This Pilea will handle some direct sun (morning is best). Use quality fertilizers to produce strong, neat growth.
